Updates from Minnesota Council of Nonprofits

by SMAC
To say this year has been a challenging one for nonprofits and the communities we serve would be an understatement of epic proportions. At the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits (MCN), they continue to be astounded by the resiliency, dedication, and impact of nonprofits as we dig into the difficult work of creating better conditions for communities across our state, regardless of the hurdles in front of us.
MCN’s work remains the same: providing nonprofits with the resources, information, and updates they need to navigate the challenges and opportunities in front of them. To that end, they are happy to share the Fall 2020 issue of Nonprofit News, which contains looks at the following issues:

  • “Minnesota’s nonprofit economy: A tale of two realities – 2019 and 2020”
  • “Where We Stand: Election participation, nonprofit job recovery, and equity in bonding bill”
  • “Looking back at past recessions, and looking ahead”
  • “MCN centering racial equity and nonprofit values during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond”
  • “Election Day 2020 is history, now the work of nonprofits and policy makers gets to the content”
  • “Fostering change, growth, and the construction of a more representative gathering at the 2020 MCN Annual Conference”
  • “Minnesota nonprofits play vital roles in 2020 Census and voter participation”

The MCN Annual Conference is just weeks away!
Don’t forget, the 2020 MCN Annual Conference is only a few weeks away. Held virtually on December 8 & 10, this year’s conference is built around the theme: Persistence through (R)Evolution. Join hundreds of nonprofit peers, as we give room for the intense movement we are in to grow. A movement indelibly shaped by COVID-19 and the murder of George Floyd.
Highlights of this year’s conference include:

  • 20+ timeley, trend-driven breakout sessions
  • Keynote by Hennepin County Commissioners Angela Conley and Irene Fernando (“Powerful Together: Collective Action at the County Level”)
  • Keynote by comedian Ali Sultan (“In the Future, There Will Be Laughter”)
  • Live and On-demand Wellness & Cheer sessions
  • Facilitated networking opportunities
