Area organizations awarded $172,382 in SMAC grants

The SW MN Arts Council has awarded $172,382 in grants to area organizations under the Art Project grant program, which provides organizations in the SMAC region with up to $5,000 in matching funds to stimulate and encourage the creation, performance and appreciation of the arts; and under the Art Legacy Project grant program, which provides up to $20,000 in matching funds to large-scale projects that will leave an arts legacy in southwest Minnesota.

 

ART PROJECT GRANTS, Round II

Appleton 52 Wing Restoration Committee, Appleton, $2,490 for their 2016 Summer Concert Series.

Cultural Awareness Organization, Worthington, $5,000 for the 2016 International Festival.

Granite Falls Area Community Theater, Granite Falls, $5,000 for a children’s theater production of Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Jr.

Granite Falls Riverfront Revitalization, Granite Falls, $4,000 for monthly Muse on the Minnesota performances.

Marshall Area Fine Arts Council, Marshall, $5,000 for their 2016-2017 Performance Series.

New London Clay Center, New London, $5,000 for the Raku Rendezvous weekend pottery workshop.

Prairie Arts Continuum, Windom, $1,340 for their production of Daddy’s Girl.

Prairie Dance Alliance, Marshall, $5,000 for their 2016 Dance Camp.

RiverSong, Hutchinson, $5,000 for their 2016 music festival.

Southwest Minnesota Orchestra, Marshall, $5,000 for their 2016
Children’s Concert and Concerto Competition.

Southwest Minnesota Orchestra, Marshall, $5,000 for their spring concert focusing on Spanish music.

Willmar Community Theatre (The Barn), Willmar, $4,321 for their 2016 summer performance season.

Willmar Area Symphonic Orchestra, Willmar, $4,725 for their spring concert, “An Afternoon at the Opera”.

Yellow Medicine East Community Education, Granite Falls, $750 for a summer Prairie Fire Children’s Theatre residency resulting in a performance of Pinocchio.

Balaton Chamber of Commerce, Balaton, $1,696 for Teddy Bears, Music, & Fun.

Buffalo Ridge Chorale, Hendricks, $3,595 to put on an original musical play, The Immigrants’ Trek.

City of Cottonwood, Cottonwood, $2,830 for Music at Central Park Market.

City of Watson, Watson, $4,148 for Renewing Watson — Art, Music & Engagement, a summer series of art, music, film, and theater.

Danube Historical Society, Danube, $3,500 for their 2016 Concerts in the Park.

Dassel Area Historical Society, Dassel, $2,950 for the 2016 Discover Dassel Art Tour.

Dawson-Boyd Schools, Dawson, $1,650 for a children’s summer musical, Annie.

Luverne Initiative for Tomorrow, Luverne, $5,000 for Art on the Prairie, a summer series of music and literature focused on the outdoors.

Marshall Area Fine Arts Council, Marshall, $1,662 for their 2016-2017 exhibit program.

Minnesota Pottery Festival, Hutchinson, $3,970 for their 2016 festival.

Murray County Historical Society, Slayton, $1,600 for the Dinehart Front Porch Music Series.

New London Music Festival, New London, $5,000 for their 2016 music festival.

Prairie Arts Chorale, Marshall, $4,529 for their Fall 2016 Concert Season.

Prairie Dance Alliance, Marshall, $5,000 for their 2017 production of
The Nutcracker.

Rhythm of the River, Jackson, $5,000 for their 2016 music festival.

Willmar Area Arts Council, Willmar, $4,300 for the Celebrate Art!
Celebrate Coffee! festival.

Winsted Arts Council, Winsted, $4,390 for their spring and summer 2016 programming and performances.

City of Montevideo, Montevideo, $20,000 for a painted railroad car public art project.

Lac qui Parle County Historical Society, Madison, $15,936 for Encountering Robert Bly: Art, Stories, and Poems.
