Aroha Philanthropies is delighted to present a second creative aging training for Minnesota teaching artists on October 21 and 22, 2019, from 9-5 p.m. This free event, co-sponsored by the Minnesota State Arts Board, will take place in Minneapolis at the Minneapolis Institute of Art. Lunch and parking will be provided.

The training is open to all artistic disciplines and will equip teaching artists to design and deliver successful and effective sequential arts education programs for older adults. Organized by a committee of Minnesota teaching artists experienced in the field of creative aging, this training will include an exploration of ageism, a hands-on deconstruction of a creative aging workshop, a review of curriculum design best practices, and tangible ideas on how to include social engagement into all artistic mediums in creative aging programs.

Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to network and connect with peers interested in this field. The event is open to teaching artists with all levels of experience as well as those who are new to or experienced in the field of creative aging, and will provide the opportunity for teaching artists to share knowledge and questions. The training will be led by a diverse selection of Minnesota teaching artists experienced in creative aging and facilitated by Lifetime Arts.

Please note that this training is not designed to provide training on health and wellness programs or arts therapies for older adults.

REGISTRATION LOTTERY
The registration lottery for this event will be open to any Minnesota teaching artist until August 28, 2019. We allow as many people to sign up for the training as possible, and from there 50 participants will be selected through a lottery, while also holding space for teaching artists from greater Minnesota. Registration will be capped at 50 participants to allow interaction and hands-on learning. Click on this link to sign-up for the registration lottery.
