MSS & Fresh Eye Arts

MSS and Fresh Eye Arts are looking for artists in various art-related professions to provide virtual informational interviews and/or a two-hour presentation and hands-on activity for students with disabilities who are exploring careers in the arts.

The most requested informational interviews are in graphic design, illustration, animation, video game design, video production, and photography. Artists in other fields will also be considered. Interviews are conducted over Zoom and are approximately 30 minutes. MSS staff will attend the interview with the artist and student to facilitate. Artists will receive a $25 stipend for their time within two weeks of completing the interview.

MSS / Fresh Eye Arts teaches a six-week class titled Explore Employment in the Arts to students with disabilities who are interested in art-related jobs and careers and hands-on experience with different mediums. This class is presented both virtually and in-person several times over the course of the year with a maximum of six students per session. One two-hour session is led by a visiting artist who presents about their art career and facilitates a hands-on activity. Artists who participate receive $200 for their time. MSS staff provide support before and during the session and provide supplies for students.

At this time, they are looking to build a list of artists who they can reach out to when students request interviews and when a class is scheduled. Experience with individuals with disabilities is preferred but not required.  Artists should have some experience with teaching or presenting and the ability to explain concepts in understandable ways. They embrace inclusivity, non-judgement, and supporting others.

If interested, please fill out the Google Form, and they will reach out if interested in adding you to their list. Thank you!
