Public Art Opportunity in Northfield, MN

by SMAC

To all Public Arts organizations, artists, sculptors and architects in the State of MN:

The City of Northfield is pleased to announce a funded art opportunity! Northfield is a town of 20,000, home to St. Olaf and Carleton colleges, and is equal parts historic river town, college town and active arts and culture community. General Northfield information can be found at   http://visitingnorthfield.com/  and  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northfield,_Minnesota

For this publicly funded art project, they are proposing a mural or murals to be created within the pedestrian/bike underpasses that will be constructed as a part of a City of Northfield street project involving Northfield’s first roundabout. The Roundabout is near several Northfield Public Schools, and they anticipate frequent use of the underpasses, especially during the school year. The underpasses will also be used by the soon-to-be-constructed Milltown’s Trail, a regional bike trail that runs through Northfield.

Funding for this project is provided by the City of Northfield’s 1% for the Arts initiative.
