Grades 3-12

Is a future Pulitzer Prize winner sitting quietly in our region? Wouldn’t it be a shame if they didn’t have an opportunity to shine?
This program was established to encourage the love of language and writing for all students and as a way to recognize the talented young writers in southwest and west central Minnesota. SWWC & SMSU Creative Writing Department have partnered to make this event possible.
For students in grades 3-12 attending public, private or home schools within the 18 county area of southwest and west central Minnesota. They can enter the contest through a classroom assignment or on their own.  This contest is available for students in Regions 6 & 8. Categories are poetry, fiction, and non-fiction.
Submission Deadline: January 20th, 2017. Visit for more details.
Awards Ceremony to be held on April 23rd in Marshall with guest speaker James Autio, author/artist from Minneapolis, MN.
