Do you have everything you need to be an effective nonprofit board member?

There are so many reasons for wanting to join a nonprofit board, from desiring to support an organization or mission near or dear to your heart to building your skills within a nonprofit setting. Whatever your motivations, it is important to understand what it means to be a reliable, ethical, and widely contributing board member.

Available as individual workshops or a four-part series, the Board Training Series provides the skills and understanding you’ll need to be a valuable contributor and support to a nonprofit’s governance.

Legal Duties – March 3, 6:30 – 8 p.m.
An overview of role and responsibilities of board members, including the duties of care, loyalty, and obedience under the Minnesota Nonprofit Corporation Act.
Inclusion & Diversity –  March 17, 6:30 – 8 p.m.
Exploration of how your organization recruits board members and creates a welcoming board culture that values every perspective.
Models of Governance – March 31, 6:30 – 8 p.m.
Discover what it means to be on a nonprofit board, the roles and responsibilities, characteristics of a high-impact board, and more.
Nonprofit Finance – April 14, 6:30 – 8 p.m.
Discussion of the financial responsibilities of board members in order to ensure an organization’s fiscal responsibility and build public trust.
Individual Workshop Fee: $45 for MCN members / $65 for nonmembers
Four-part Series Fee: $115 for members / $165 for nonmembers
