Hutchinson Center for the Arts: Now Seeking: Creative, Curious, Big Thinking, Aspiring Actors, and Improvers
After School Art Club allows kids to experience the creative process and the joy of art making in a collaborative and welcoming studio environment.
Art Studio
Designed for students in 2nd – 5th grade
Dates: Monday, October 9, 16, and 23
Time: 3:30-5:00pm
Guided by visual artist/educator Shelley Caldwell, kid artists will explore the sights, textures and colors of autumn in three studio sessions. Kids will work independently and collaboratively on fall themed projects including:
one of kind/out of this world trick or treat basket making, experimental drawing and printmaking and a collaborative sculpture to be on public display at several locations around Hutchinson including the Art Center, Library, and Chamber of Commerce.

Improv 101
Designed for students 13-18 years old
Dates: Tuesday, October 10th- Thursday October 12th
Time: 3:30-5:00
Performance: Thursday, October 12th at 5:30
Led by No Lines Improv founder, Haley Jacobsen, Improv 101 provides students with an introduction into the fundamentals of improvisation. The class will play short-form games and exercises building confidence and public speaking skills.
In this class, students learn the skills needed to create original improvised scenes including ensemble scenes, object work, the 4 rules of improv. No experience necessary.
Improv 101 will culminate in a short performance demonstration for friends and family on October 12th at 5:30pm. Students must be able to attend all 3 class days and performance.

Designed for grades 2nd-7th
Dates: Monday, November 27-Friday, December 1st
Time: 3:30-5:00pm
Dress Rehearsal: Saturday, December 2nd at 6:00pm
Performance: Saturday, December 2 at 7:00pm
Put on a short play… in just five days! This week-long class will allow young actors to participate in the entire theatrical experience including auditions, staging, memorization, performance, set development, and working as a team.
Students will need to be available for all 5 days and performance.
