Call for Art: In. Art Show

Posted by showThe In. Art Show is open to all artists throughout Minnesota, Wisconsin, and beyond.  A juried and judged visual art competition is a valuable experience for artists that elevates exposure of the artist’s work to the public, and enhances an artist’s resume.   To be accepted into the show, submitted artwork must make it through the jurying process conducted by three independent judges.  Criteria for judging includes creativity and innovation, composition, technical skill, execution, and an overall judges opinion.  Once accepted, artwork will need to be delivered to the art center where the same panel of judges will spend an afternoon looking over the artwork on display, and based on pre-established criteria, will determine the winners.

Totaling $3,600, awards for the most talented artists will include:

  • Three (3) Judge’s Choice awards ($500 each)
  • Five (5) Artistic Excellence awards ($200 each)
  • Five (5) Artistic Merit awards ($100 each)
  • Three People’s Choice (by popular vote during the exhibit opening) awards
  • $300 first place
  • $200 second place
  • $100 third place.

Judges for this contest will include Rurik Hover, fine artist and graphic designer from Minneapolis that graduated from the University of Minnesota and has exhibited his artwork from Minnesota to Germany.  Jason Kehrer is an art teacher with a fine arts degree in printmaking from Southern Illinois University and is currently completing his masters degree in visual arts through Bethel University.  And, Steve Forseth, a former teacher at Stillwater High School that graduated with a degree in Art Education from Augsburg and has been judging art at the Minnesota State Fair for a number of years.

The exhibit will remain on display through October 1, 2016 at the Hallberg Center for the Arts, located at 5521 East Viking Blvd, Wyoming, MN  55092.  This event is free and open to the public.  This is a great opportunity for visitors to meet these artists, as well as artists and art enthusiasts from throughout the region.
