This is SMAC’s annual FREE learning opportunity provided to arts organizations in the Southwest Minnesota region and we sincerely hope to see you and/or your arts organization represented. Join arts organizations of all types — theater, music, visual, arts councils and more — for an afternoon of learning & networking.

“Serving the Underserved”: 

What does that mean for your rural arts organization?

We will be learning to address DEI through the Cultural Community Benefits Principles (CCBP) Toolkit developed by ArtChangeUS. The goal of the principles is to offer a values-driven and pragmatic approach to building equitable relationships by shifting our institutional practices. Every organization operates in its own context; the lessons, practices, and information contained in this toolkit should be used to spur reflection, conversation and creative thinking around DEI.

“Owning Who We Are: Strategies for Assessing and Communicating Equity in Rural Organizations”

Does your organization struggle to answer the question of how are they reaching the underserved in your community? In this session, DeeDee LeMier of Charities Review Council will share insight from grantmakers to help you submit strong grant applications, build confidence in understanding and articulating existing organizational diversity, and identify tools for setting goals that reflect the individuals and community you serve.

“Honoring Indigenous Peoples & Lands”

with Anne O’Keefe-Jackson & Eileen O’Keefe

Anne and Eileen are Dakota from the Lower Sioux Community. Anne (pictured left) is the Human Resources Director at Jackpot Junction Casino. Eileen is the Program Director for Dakota Wicohan, a non profit who’s mission it is to preserve Dakota as a living language, and through it, transmit Dakota life ways to future generations.
