Opportunities for board members of arts organizations

by SMAC

OPPORTUNITY #1:
SMAC encourages members of arts organizations* to attend a nonprofit budgeting workshop by paying registration and mileage fees
Event:
Fundamentals of Nonprofit Budgeting, by the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits.
March 5, 2018, 1:30-4:30 pm at the Marshall-Lyon County Library.
Budgets are the foundation of nonprofit finance and are vital to your organization’s strategic planning and management. Budgeting can seem overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. Budgets are another tool for you to tell the story about your organization’s plans, priorities and aspirations. In this session you’ll learn about the relationships between budgeting, planning, and financial management and walk away with a proven 10-step process you can use to craft budgets at your organization.

The Southwest Minnesota Arts Council will pay for board members of non-profit arts organizations from the 18 counties of our region to attend the workshop and reimburse mileage. If you would like to attend, you must register with us first and not directly on the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits website. To register, include your name, organization, email, and phone number. Contact the SMAC office with this information via e-mail, phone, or mail with the information provided at the bottom of this page. The deadline for registering through SMAC is by 4:30 pm on March 1, 2018.
*Attendees must be on the board of a non-profit arts organization located within the SW MN Region.

OPPORTUNITY #2:
Also interested in attending Arts Advocacy Day at the Capitol?

After the workshop, consider car pooling with other arts supporters from the SW MN region to Arts Advocacy Day at the capitol in St. Paul! This year Arts Advocacy Day is on Tuesday, March 6th, 2018. Make your voice heard about why we value the arts in Minnesota. SMAC will provide transportation from Marshall to St. Paul after the workshop on Monday evening, March 5, as well as supper and lodging that night. In the morning, travel with SMAC members to meet with legislators and other advocates throughout the day.  Attendees should plan to arrive back in Marshall around 5pm.
Please contact SMAC prior to March 1, 2018 by 4:30 pm if you would like to take advantage of car pooling, supper, and lodging.
