Minnesota State Arts Board FY 2019 Artist Initiative grant application deadlines May 4 and June 29, 2018

The FY 2019 Artist Initiative grant program is now open for application. The
FY 2019 Artist Initiative Program Overview and Application Instructions are available on the Arts Board Web site.

The Artist Initiative grant program is designed to support and assist professional Minnesota artists at various stages in their careers by encouraging artistic development, nurturing artistic creativity, and recognizing the contributions of individual artists to the creative environment of the state of Minnesota. Grants will be awarded for projects that will enhance or expand the applicant’s artistic skills or process, and advance the applicant’s career by helping the artist generate greater visibility with and exposure to potential audiences.

The deadline to submit applications is Friday, May 4, 2018, for literary arts and performing arts, and Friday, June 29, 2018, for visual arts. Please note that applications must be submitted and accepted before 4:30 p.m. on the day of the deadline.

Proposed projects must take place between January 1, 2019, and December 31, 2019, for literary and performing arts, and between March 1, 2019, and February 28, 2020, for visual arts.

Those considering a first time application are urged to review the program’s overview and application instructions, and speak with program officer Sherrie Fernandez-Williams prior to beginning an application. She can be reached at (651) 215-1626, toll-free at
(800) 866-2787, or via e-mail at sherrie.fernandez-williams@arts.state.mn.us.

The Arts Board uses WebGrants, an online grants management system, for all applications. Registration is required of all applicants before beginning an application to any Arts Board program. It is only necessary to register once. To register, visit the Arts Board Web site. Scroll down the home page to WebGrants instructions and registration information.

The Arts Board is offering free online information sessions about the FY 2019 Artist Initiative grant opportunity on Thursday, April 5, and May 31, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. The sessions are identical. Learn more.
