McKnight Fellowship Opportunity for mid-career Visual Artists in Minnesota:

The McKnight Foundation’s arts program is one of the oldest and largest of its kind in the country.

The 2018 McKnight Visual Artist Fellowship application is now open! The deadline for applying is Friday, March 30 at noon.

Announcing the spring McKnight Visual Artist Discussion Series featuring the 2016 McKnight fellows in conversation with leading national art curators and critics. The four discussions will be held at the Minneapolis Institute of Art on February 16, March 23, April 6, and June 1.

Established in 1981, the McKnight Artist Fellowships provide annual, unrestricted cash awards to accomplished Minnesota artists in ten areas. Eight arts organizations oversee the administration of the fellowships and structure their own programs to respond to the unique challenges of different creative disciplines.

The Arts program supports the conviction that the arts cannot flourish or enhance community life without the ideas, energy, and drive of individual artists, and that artists cannot make these contributions without unfettered creative time.

The McKnight Fellowships for Visual Artists program rewards talented Minnesota visual artists whose work is of exceptional artistic merit, who have created a substantial body of work over a period of time, and who are at a career stage beyond emerging. Since 2014, the McKnight Visual Arts Fellowships have included the medium of photography, so a total of eight $25,000 fellowships are awarded each year. The focus of the fellowship is connecting fellows to six visiting critics, participating in a McKnight Discussion Series that features fellows and invited critics, and working with each fellow to pursue additional professional development opportunities.

Administered by the Minneapolis College of Art and Design.
