"Scattered Presence" Exhibit
Please help SMAC welcome our next gallery exhibit showcasing the art of Kelly Henkels!
Kelly Henkels of Worthington received a SMAC Quick Support for Artists grant in 2024 to create abstract wall hangings and 3-D creatures by exploring sewing, hand stitching, embroidery, fabric paints, gelli printing, felting, different textures of fabric and other supplies.
**SPECIAL ART ACTIVITY** This exhibit features an art activity station set up by the artist, which will be set up for the duration of the exhibit until December 19th. Participants can choose from supplies to make their own mini collages. They can even add their creations to the exhibit! Just fill out a title card and pick a spot on the wall to hang! Ask a staff member with any questions on how to take part.
Artist Bio
Hello, my name is Kelly Henkels and I am from Worthington, MN. For as long as I can remember I have been creating… the ‘what’ is constantly changing. I love to create a variety of different types of art ranging from printmaking to painting and all the way to sewing. It’s safe to say I don’t like to stick to just one thing.
My art journey has taken me to many different places including: getting an Art Education Degree, teaching art classes, to multiple art shows (Including three of my own), learning techniques from all kinds of mediums of art, and exploring my own personal art style.
I love making interesting unconventional art. I love the freedom art gives me. Being able to follow the creative process with whatever comes to my mind, without overthinking it. It’s truly my biggest passion in life and it is a privilege to be able to share it publicly in such a substantial way.
