Hispanic Advocacy and Community Empowerment through Research (HACER), a community-based research nonprofit based in West Saint Paul, is seeking participants in a new research project that investigates the barriers, motivations, and goals of Latine artists around Minnesota.
For the past thirty years, HACER has conducted research projects in collaboration with Latine communities in Minnesota with the purpose of generating authentic information that can be used to raise the profile of Latine communities, contribute to their well-being and guide public policy initiatives. This new focus group will inquire about participants life, artistic practice, and experience with the arts in Minnesota alongside other Latine artists. As grantees of the Arts Board of Minnesota, their findings will be used to better understand how to address inequities among Latine artists, to best support their artistic endeavors, craft, and trade. To achieve these goals, HACER hopes to be able to hear your stories and to help give your experiences and thoughts a voice.
As a focus group participant, you will be invited to participate in a conversation with Rodolfo Gutierrez, Nicolas Diaz de Leon, and many other artists. Rodolfo Gutierrez and Nicolas Diaz de Leon will help facilitate the conversation with questions about your community, inspirations, challenges, and successes. This meeting will be held
virtually via Zoom for a maximum of 90 minutes at a mutually agreed upon time. Should you be interested in joining our project, you will be offered $50 as financial compensation for your time. If this opportunity interests you or if you have any clarifying questions, please email Nicolas@hacer-mn.org.
