Call for proposals
FY 2020 Poetry Out Loud partnership grant
The Minnesota State Arts Board is seeking proposals from individuals or organizations interested in serving as local host for the 2019-2020 Minnesota Poetry Out Loud competition.

The local host/partnership grantee will be responsible for all aspects of planning and implementing the program. One $40,000 grant will be awarded. The grant period will begin on July 1, 2019. All activities funded with this Arts Board partnership grant will need to be completed, and all funds will need to be expended, before June 30, 2020.

Poetry Out Loud is a national poetry recitation contest created by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation. Each year, hundreds of thousands of high school students across the country participate in the program. Poetry Out Loud uses a pyramid structure that starts at the classroom level. Winners advance to a school wide competition, then to a regional and/or state competition, and ultimately to the national finals in Washington, DC.  Poetry Out Loud is hosted by a local partner in each state. https://www.poetryoutloud.org/

Since its creation in 2005, Poetry Out Loud has grown to reach more than 3.6 million students and 55,000 teachers from 14,000 schools in every state, Washington, DC, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico.

Interested individuals or organizations must submit an application before 4:30 p.m. on Friday, April 12, 2019. To learn more and apply, please visit the Arts Board Web site.
