New Art Show Opens at Historical Society:
The Cottonwood County Historical Society invites you to attend the opening reception of the summer art exhibit entitled Hidden Nature, photography by Jessica Bak, on Saturday, May 6 from 2-4 p.m. Light refreshments will be served throughout the afternoon. Free admission. Come and meet the artist!
Over 50 photographs will be on display featuring all aspects of nature including scenic landscapes, flowers, waterfalls and more. These images have been taken in Cottonwood County, greater Minnesota, New York, Colorado and Kentucky. As Jessica Bak states in her artist statement: “Come take a journey with me through nature. My photographs portray the beauty that surround us but is often taken for granted. We simply forget to stop, look and say ‘breathtaking’.” The exhibit runs from May 6 – September 2, 2017
More about the artist:
Jessica Bak was born and raised in Kentucky. She attended college in Rochester, New York, where she majored in photography and graphic design. She continued her studies focused on business and art gallery management at the Rochester Institute of Technology. After moving to Windom in 2012, she started her own photography business and became the social media specialist at the museum.
The Cottonwood County Historical Society is located at 812 Fourth Avenue in Windom. We are open Monday –Friday from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. For more information, contact the museum at 831-1134. The exhibit is sponsored by the Robert & Helen Remick Endowment.

Jessica Bak of Windom was awarded $2,000 an Individual Developing Artist Grant from SMAC for her first solo art show. The grant went towards printing and framing her photographs. www.bakphotos.com
