Mokume Gane pieces on display, by Gayle Martens

Posted by

New London, Minnesota

Mokume-gane is a technique of using different metals to create a unique wood grain pattern. Gayle Martens received an Individual Artist Development grant from Southwest Minnesota Arts Council to develop skills in the six techniques of Mokume Gane (zougan, guri bori, cross pattern, marbling, feather pattern, and yuteki pattern). Gayle used these techniques on gold and silver metal clay. You are invited to view these pieces beginning October 24, 2016 at United Minnesota Bank, 105 Central Ave, New London, MN and at A Thousand Cranes Gallery, 326 Main Street South, New London, Mn from October 26-29, 2016.

*This is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Southwest Minnesota Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
