Mary Mulenburg nature art photography
Mulenburg says, "Photography has been a major part of my life for so many years that I can't picture myself without a camera by my side, always anticipating the next striking composition to present itself. I first picked up a camera in my teens and the sentimental part of me was thrilled at the ability to preserve details of the people, places and events that were special to me. Growing up, my family always centered our leisure time on outdoor activities and I grew to appreciate nature in a deep way. I always loved drawing and painting, but photography held a special appeal for me. It could enable me to capture the beauty that I witnessed all around me."
"Nature photography is the way I express myself. It has become my voice for what I value most in life, the incredible beauty and intricacy of our world. I am attracted to small details and subtleties that can easily go unnoticed. I love focusing on abstractions, and find them in the continually shifting patterns of water reflections, clouds and flora. I do a minimal amount of post processing, preferring to document the moment as it is. I want my images to bring a smile to people's hearts and move

them to feel gratitude and reverence for this magnificent world we live in. It is also my hope that people will be moved to do whatever they can to preserve and protect it."
Mulenburg grew up in Madison, Wisconsin and earned a BA in Fine Arts (emphasis in photography) from Washington State University. After returning to the Midwest and raising her children, Mulenburg says she has "recently been venturing out into the art world more seriously." She has participated in gallery exhibits and competitions, winning several awards
along the way, and was honored to have 5 images chosen to be on permanent display at the Avera Cancer Institute in Marshall, MN. She also volunteers at the Hutchinson Center for the Arts and the Glencoe-Silver Lake schools, and is a member of the Hutchinson Photography Club. She received an Individual Artist grant from SMAC in 2014.
"The learning curve never ends and I am continually growing as an artist. I am excited to be connecting with more photographers, artists, and art lovers. It is such a joy to be expressing myself and finding spiritual fulfillment through what I love, making photographs!"
