Kari CL Weber: Abstract Landscapes
"My work involves landscapes relating to rural communities. The idea of a landscape, and the stories that go with it, have always been something personal to me but what I’ve realized is that the places I paint aren’t really just mine. They are definitely shared and are part of the conversation of the rural community.
These paintings are my most recent works. There is an emphasis on the horizon line and the specific shapes that I’ve observed in the landscape spaces where I live. I wanted to pare down the

mark making this time and focus on those wide open spaces that give me a sense of equilibrium. You could also say they are a collection of all the pieces and parts of a painting that I think are so fun to paint.
