Jesse White of Currie will exhibit paintings and painted objects at the SMAHC Gallery from March 11 through April 26, 2013.
Jesse White is an artist interested in exploring several different themes. Within the exhibited pieces are themes of personal and natural history, transformation and man’s struggle with nature. Jesse explained, “My artworks are more conceptually driven than they are driven by process. I am more concerned with the works functioning as metaphors that I am with any forms of representation.” White focuses on the relationship that the materials have with the concept

and hopes the viewer finds themselves challenged into reconsidering their own experiences in Southwest Minnesota.
White was raised in Westbrook, MN. He graduated from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in 2000. The exhibit will feature nearly 15 of White’s works. Jesse White was a recipient of a 2012 SMAHC grant for developing artists.
The public is invited to visit the SMAHC art gallery in downtown Marshall for a reception from 5:00 - 7:00 pm on Thursday, March 14, 2013. Regular Gallery hours are Mon - Fri, 8:00 am to noon and 1:00 - 4:30 pm.
