Glen Bruns Abstract Mixed Media
The abstract art of Glen Bruns will be shown at the SMAC Gallery from January 11 through March 2, 2018. The public is invited to attend the exhibit reception on Thursday, January 11 from 5 - 7 PM. Special music will be provided by Ralph Hepola (tuba) and Peter Lothringer (guitar) during the reception from 5:30 - 6:30pm.
Bruns received a degree in Graphic Arts from Mankato Vo-Tech and a BA in Studio Arts at Southwest Minnesota State University. Recently Glen received an Individual Artist grant funded by the Southwest Minnesota Arts Council to create a series of abstract art pieces featuring his mixed media process.

Glen Bruns described his artistic process as such:
"When I start a painting I don't have a specific idea in mind. As an abstract painter I like to stay open to the way the painting leads. Otherwise you can restrict yourself to being open to what's going on with the painting. I start by applying some paint or drawing some lines, then respond to these lines and shapes for the next step. I use a process of adding and taking away until I know the painting is finished."
