New Show Opens at Historical Society
You are invited to attend the art show opening in the Remick Gallery entitled Salmagundi: A Collection by Anna Johannsen of Windom. The reception is on Sunday afternoon, May 7, 2023 from 2-4 p.m. Free admission. Light refreshments.
The exhibit features over 50 art works by this talented Windom artist. Known for her 3-D textile quilts and wall hangings, Anna expands into a variety of mediums in this exhibit including watercolors, pencil drawings, oil paintings and mixed media. Her main focus remains beautifully designed textiles of which you will see many. Come and meet the artist! This exhibit is our summer show and runs through August 26.
More about the artist:
Anna Johannsen is a self-taught quilter and fiber artist. Since her retirement from teaching Art and Home Economics at the Alternative Learning Center in 2015, she has more time to experiment with fibers, techniques, colors and textures. She loves to hand dye cloth for her creations allowing the fabric to tell the story. She also continues to create 3-D quilts and will have available the 3-D glasses to view her work.
Be brave! Expand your experience by asking yourself, “What if….?” Make art an adventure by trying something different. Anna Johannsen, 2023
