Playing with time, Personal History imagines an African-American couple navigating three moments in American life. From 1903 to 1953 to 1996, the play explores what life would be like for Eugene and Bethany in each of these times, as they interact with an evolving society, confronting issues of race and class, as well as the dynamics of their own personal relationship.
