On behalf of the Cultures on the Prairie Committee, we personally invite you and your staff to attend the Cultures on the Prairie event on Monday, February 13, 2022 from 1:00-5:00 pm and Tuesday, February 14, 2022 from 8:30-4:00 pm.

On Day 1, February 13th, you will experience the “Killing Fields” Simulation: A simulation where participants will work with profiles of “Killing Field” survivors and stories of what happened to their family and friends to learn about the events of the killing fields in a personal way and discover what it took to stay alive. Day 1 is only offered as an in-person option due to the nature of the simulation.

During Day 2, February 14th, you will experience the stories, history, and cultures throughout southwest Minnesota by listening and interacting with panelists which will discuss the views from our students and community. These panels will highlight challenges, successes and opportunities as they relate to their specific culture. This will provide you and your staff the insight when hiring and serving all people of southwest Minnesota. Day 2 is an in-person event with the option of attending virtually.

There will be time for table talk to discuss and reflect on topics surrounding diversity and race. Presentations will include Accent Biases and our keynote speaker, Director of Equity & Inclusion for the Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools, Sambath Ouk.
