Artist Statement
Webster Pottery is Katie and Andrew Webster. Together, the Webster’s make finely-crafted utilitarian pottery decorated with archetypal imagery inspired by the natural world. Their process of creating pottery is collaborative from start to finish, allowing Katie and Andrew to bring their unique strengths and perspectives to the finished work, notably Andrew’s background in Art History and Katie’s in Marriage & Family Therapy. The surfaces are achieved using raw clay, paper-resist, slips, stains, glazes and overglazes. The variety in techniques used allows the decoration and imagery to build intuitively and in multiple layers. The finished work portrays a synthesis of the Webster’s craftsmanship, creativity, metaphor, and individual experiences. Webster Pottery is fabricated from stoneware and fired with wood and soda, giving each piece depth, quality, and individuality. Learn more about Webster Pottery: https://www.websterpottery.art/

There will also be a virtual tour and artist talk on zoom, Thursday, August 8th at 5:30 pm. We will create a separate event & posts with zoom link, or you can also email info@swmnarts.org for the zoom link.
