*Granite Falls: Mike Gill RVR Artists Salon

River Valley Ripple Artist, Mike Gill will be hosting his Artist Salon “Music Theory in Motion” on Thursday, May 22nd at 7 PM! At 7:15 PM, Mike will share his knowledge of the Minor Pentatonic scale in a uniquely fun and interactive way!

Musicians are encouraged to bring their own instruments!! Knowing a concert Bb chromatic scale in one octave ahead of time will help, but is not mandatory. Mike will provide visual cues for Concert pitch instruments (voice, piano, guitar, bass, trombone, tuba, etc), Bb instruments (trumpets, tenor sax, clarinets, etc), and Eb instruments (alto sax and bari sax) to help aid with the lesson.

After the lesson, we’ll put this cool scale to use in real time! Have you seen the movie “Big” where he uses his body to play the piano? Well, we will be exploring what we like to call “Interactive Music Theory”. Folks will be able to jump from one note to another to create their own improvisation for Mike and the musicians to play on their instruments! We will end the evening with Mike Gill performing a live music set!

This event is free and open to the public with snacks and beverages provided!
