A message from Mike:
For as long as I can remember, music has been an interest of mine from listening, playing, teaching, and studying.
In 6th grade (2000) I learned alto sax and have stuck with it ever since. I studied saxophone in college. After graduating from college, I played in Twin Cities funk band, PHO. Maceo Parker, Cannonball Adderly, and Ryan Zoidis are some of my favorite alto saxophonists.
The music of the White Stripes made me want to learn guitar in 7th grade (2001). I’m influenced by Hendrix and SRV to name a few.
Choir in high school gave me an introduction to singing. While in college, I gained experience singing blues in the cover band, Funky Gumbo.
There are many mentors, teachers, colleagues, family, friends, and musicians for whom I’m grateful for their guidance, knowledge, and support. Thanks.
