Dassel History Center “James Vukelich Kaagegaabaw, a descendent of Turtle Mountain, is an international speaker, author of The Seven Generations & the Seven
Grandfather Teachings’ & the creator of Ojibwe Word of the Day. James is recognized as a leading voice on the interconnectedness of language & culture. His keen insights were developed through speaking with, and recording elders and native language speakers (many of whom have since passed on) in Canada, Michigan and Minnesota as part of the Ojibwe Language Dictionary Project.

This event series is supported in part by grants from the Minnesota State Arts Board and the Southwest Minnesota Arts Council made possible by the voters of Minnesota, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
