So many ask…. Watercolor Batik is multi-layering of melted wax and watercolor on rice paper. The technique begins with alternating layers and working from light to dark, until the entire surface is covered with wax. The next step involves crinkling the rice paper into a ball to crack the wax and then flattening it again. The last step is a final dark layer of watercolor to seep through the cracks. After ironing the wax out, the final image with reveal itself! Watercolor Batik is always an adventure!

Maximum class size of 12 students. Cost is $45 which includes supplies. If you have your own paints you can bring them, otherwise you will use what they have. Your seat is not saved until they have received your class fee. Bring your own lunch or the Blender Co Cafe is now right in the lobby and has really good food besides specialty coffee.

Send your fee to Appleton Art and Culture at 120 W Schlieman Appleton MN after you email
