Call for Performance Artists: Transgender Day of Visibility

The Hennepin County Transgender and Gender Nonconforming Employee Resource Group (TGERG) is seeking performance artists for the 2024 Transgender Day of Visibility.  Performances would occur on Wednesday, April 3rd from 1 – 3 PM on site at a Hennepin County building in downtown Minneapolis and possibly online simultaneously.  Performances may include, but are not limited to:

  • musicians
  • story telling
  • spoken word poetry/prose
  • theatrical performances
  • others.

The TGERG is expecting to pay performers and will negotiate based on performances selected but all performances will be paid no less than $150.00 for a half hour duration. 

While all are welcome to apply, priority will be given to those of LGBTQIA+ identities, BIPOC and residents of, or those who have a connection to Hennepin County.

Include in the email:

  1. Name of artist(s) as you wish to be listed professionally
  2. Email address
  3. Phone number
  4. Title and brief description of the performance
  5. Expected duration for the performance
  6. Sample videos of performance
  7. Optional resume.

Please also state if you identify as LGBTQIA+, are a resident or have a connection to Hennepin County, and/or are BIPOC. 


Deadline for Submission: February 14, 2024
Notice of acceptance: February 23, 2024
Performance Date: April 3, 2024; 1PM – 3PM (multiple performers may be selected to fill the full 2 hours.)


All are eligible to apply,  priority in selection will be given to those stating in their email application that they are members of the LGBTQIA+ communities, BIPOC and/or are a resident or have a connection to Hennepin County. 


Artists retain all copyrights to their own images. Artists whose work is accepted for the 2024 Transgender Day of Visibility performance give the TGERG the nonexclusive right to use, print, and reproduce submitted digital and imagery for the purpose of promoting the performance(s) and event, via internal Hennepin County communications, public social media, and online exhibition archives.
