Please help SMAC welcome our next gallery exhibit featuring the artwork of Ana Serrano (Willmar) and Rosa Maria Cerda Rodriguez (Windom). This exhibit will be in the SMAC Gallery in downtown Marshall at 509 West Main Street from September 6 – October 25, 2023.

Both Ana & Rosa received SMAC Artist Equity grants in 2022.

Ana Serrano

Ana Serrano is a Mexican American artist based in Willmar, Minnesota, who works mainly in oil paints and ballpoint pen. Her artwork is characterized by its vibrant color palette, bold and striking patterns, and its formal expression of culture and identity.
Her artwork is a colorful reflection of her unique culture and identity, and it makes a powerful and bold statement about the beauty of Mexican American cultural identity.

Rosa Maria Cerda Rodriquez

Mexican, born in Purepero Michoacán, Mexico, currently residing in Windom, MN. Self-taught, my art is oil paintings, most of the time I like to capture on canvas images of photographs that I take myself. When I was a child my hobby was drawing with colored pencils and those drawings always adorned the walls of my bedroom. Without a doubt, art has been something important in my life because it causes a feeling of freedom in me. It’s like disconnecting from the outside world to connect with myself, and that’s great. When I paint, time stops but even so, it continues to advance and a part of me remains in every work of art that I make.
I had the opportunity to exhibit my works of art four times in Mexico, between the years of 1998, 2009, 2013, 2014 .  Some more at Remick Gallery, Windom, MN in 2018 and 2022. I had a new experience with SMAC, by request and receive a grant for my project “Traveling Soul” which itself is a series of oil paintings, self-portraits and other images with written thoughts related to eternal love that through time an old soul cannot erase.
