Minnesota State Arts Board and Arts Midwest will award American Rescue Plan funds for arts organizations
Working in partnership, the Minnesota State Arts Board and Arts Midwest will launch a new grant opportunity in August for Minnesota arts organizations.  The funding comes from the federal American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, via the National Endowment for the Arts.

The American Rescue Plan, an economic stimulus bill intended to help speed up the recovery from economic and health effects of the COVID-19 pandemic included funds to support the arts sector as it recovers from the devastating impact of the COVID-19.  This significant financial commitment is recognition of the value the arts and culture sector contribute to the nation’s economy.

American Rescue Plan Grants will help small and midsized Minnesota nonprofit arts organizations and arts affiliates support costs related to their employees or contractors, facilities, health and safety, and marketing or promotion.  These will be flexible operating grants that can be used to help organizations sustain their people and programming, rebuild, and reopen as the COVID-19 pandemic wanes.

Total funding available for the program is $966,000; approximately 65 grants, of $15,000 each, will be awarded. Grants will be distributed proportionally based on population, to organizations in each of Minnesota’s eleven arts regions.

More detailed program and eligibility information and application instructions will be distributed in early August.  The application deadline will be October 29, 2021.
