SMAC Staff Roles as Related to Accessibility
Accessibility Coordinator: Krystl Louwagie

The Access Coordinator is a specific person appointed to coordinate the administrative requirements of ADA compliance, such as documenting and developing transition plans for barriers identified for people with disabilities, and to respond to complaints filed by the public. The name and contact information for the responsible person is required to be publicly advertised. Especially in a small organization, the Access Coordinator should not be considered responsible for executing all activities identified in the ADA Access Plan, but instead that their role is to encourage the organization to revisit this plan frequently, and steward action.
Staff
Staff are expected to contribute to the organization’s commitment to accessibility in their domain of responsibility. They participate in access planning, and developing and implementing solutions.
Board of Directors
The Board of Directors is ultimately responsible for the ethical commitment and legal consequences related to accessibility. The board must ensure that the organization is complying with legal requirements to provide equal access to people with disabilities. They should on a regular basis formally review and approve the organization’s ADA Access Plan.
